Farewell to Japanese Matchboxes

Hello friends. Sad news for phillumenists–collectors of matchooks–like ourselves. Japan's largest producer of matchbooks is exiting the business, effectively extinguishing the tradition of picking up matchbooks at cafes and bars as mementos. We're also featuring the unappetizing yet mesmerizing creations of a certain Japanese confectionery chef. And of course we were horrified, heartbroken at the news out of Texas last week. There has to be another way and, for us, it only makes sense to turn to Japan as an example of how gun regulations can help.

Farewell, Matchbooks

Phillumeny–the practice of collecting matchboxes–is about to get a lot more difficult. Japan's largest manufacturer of matchboxes, Nittosha, has announced that they're shutting down their business line in June after fulfilling all existing orders.

38-year old professor Suzuki has spent the past 16 years using the forest as his laboratory, and has scientifically proven that birds use intelligent, structured language to communicate.
There are numerous tiny train lines across Japan that are a dying breed. One of those is the Geibi Line, running through mountainous chugoku region. Aside from a handful of train fans, there are only 3 daily riders, all local students.
