The common self-heal, which also makes an appearance in Microseason 28 when "the self-heal withers", is a perennial herb found throughout Europe, Asia and North America. It sprouts around now, the time of the winter solstice (December 21), and dries up in June. In a cold time when all other plants have withered, the common self-heal offers a sprout of hope for Spring.
