"Everybody wanted to play like Eddie"
“Back then, Eddie was sort of the apex of a new direction for guitarists of my generation. If you were just getting in the game like me, he was the guy to look up to. He made it all seem so exciting. Everybody wanted to play like him, and every band wanted to hit it big like Van Halen.”

So says former Ratt guitarist Warren DeMartini, who in 1982 and at the tender age of 19 journeyed from San Diego to Los Angeles just as the Sunset Strip glam metal scene was on the cusp of exploding nationwide.

In an entertaining new GW interview, DeMartini looks back at his time in the Ratt race, and the craziness and excitement of the fast-paced, competitive glam metal scene the band came from. Scroll down to read the insightful chat in full.
