While the former home secretary has since been sent packing, she's not alone in her views. Indeed, large parts of the rightwing press have framed anyone showing up to pro-Palestine protests as a frothing-at-the-mouth antisemite.
You know this isn't true, of course - and so do I. Over the last five weeks, I've been covering these protests big and small for Novara Media. 27 of them, in fact - I counted - and I wanted to give you a first hand account of what I've seen.

There's Paul, a Scottish nurse and Celtic fan who used to work at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City and who's seen the violence of the Israeli state first hand.
There's Ann, the daughter of Holocaust survivors who's fed up with the media lie that all Jews support war crimes against Palestinians.
There's Amina, a 16-year-old from Bristol who just doesn't want to see kids that are her siblings' age getting bombed and killed.
The truth is that these protests are overwhelmingly peaceful, vibrant and multi-racial. And you don't see many 'We should be at brunch!' placards, either - people are politicised, and know exactly what they're marching for: an end to Israel's genocide and occupation. | | | Counteracting media misrepresentation
But this isn't just about telling the stories of those on the streets. There's other reasons to cover these protests, too.
One is to track how the movement is growing and changing. Some tactics prove more successful than others, and it's important to keep up to speed with what's working and what isn't.
