"That original, old '80s sound"...
“We tried all our equipment from the ‘80s – the Marshall stacks, all this equipment – to find that original, old ‘80s sound.”

That's what Scorpions founder/guitarist Rudolf Schenker told Guitar World during a recent chat about the hard-rock institution's new album, the appropriately titled Rock Believer.

Love them or not, the Scorpions possess a steely endurance (not to mention a knack for writing world-conquering anthems) that's kept them on the worldwide stadium circuit long after the commercial prospects of many of their peers have faded.

Our new interview with Schenker explores that longevity, and the band's quest to capture lightning in a bottle on their first studio offering in seven years – with the help of some familiar gear.
