Appetite for Destruction at 35
Yesterday (July 21) marked the 35th anniversary of the release of Guns N' Roses' landmark debut album, Appetite for Destruction.

To mark the occasion, I spent the day bringing one of the great gems in the Guitar World archives – a lengthy 1989 interview with Slash and Izzy Stradlin, the band's two guitarists at the time – back to life.

It's a fascinating chat, one that eschews – much to the guitarists' tangible relief – the tabloid-friendly antics that made the band one of rock's most notorious (and successful) in favor of the creative process that forged the album, a true blockbuster that perfectly blended punk hedonism, classic rock riffology, and top-tier songwriting on its way to re-shaping the rock landscape.
