Even the best feel insecure sometimes

On GW.com, we've previously talked about how constantly comparing yourself to other guitarists is bad news for your playing, creativity, and mental health.

If you have, however, felt insecure at any point recently about your own playing – whether or not it's from comparing yourself to others – you're far from alone.

At a recent Metallica show in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, James Hetfield prefaced a performance of One by confessing to the massive crowd that he had been feeling like “an old guy" before the band's performance, with a gnawing feeling that he “can't play anymore.”

His longtime bandmates helped him through this moment of self-doubt, but it just goes to show that some of even the best, most accomplished professional guitarists on the planet sometimes feel that same sense of insecurity that you may be struggling with.
