A Van Halen tour in the 2020s?

Back in December 2020, Wolfgang Van Halen – in no uncertain terms – put to rest to any speculation that Van Halen would ever return in any form without his father, the late guitar hero Eddie Van Halen.

That's why all of us at GW were shocked when Jason Newsted claimed in an interview with a Florida newspaper last week that he had been approached to join some kind of new Van Halen tour with Alex Van Halen and Joe Satriani.

Earlier this week, Satriani confirmed that he had indeed been discussing "a true tribute to Eddie and the Van Halen legacy" with Alex Van Halen and David Lee Roth for "about a year." Roth has now added even more fuel to the speculative fire by suggesting that Steve Lukather could be involved in such a tribute tour as well.

Now, again, this is all speculation, with – as Roth and Satriani have clearly noted – no concrete plans as of yet. What a show it would be though...
