An all-star panel salutes Randy Rhoads

Though his recorded body of work is diminutive – just two albums with Ozzy Osbourne and two more with Quiet Riot – Randy Rhoads is one of the most significant guitarists in the history of rock.

His marriage of classical influences with breathtaking speed, impeccable feel, and hard-rock muscle helped shape the approach of countless thousands of guitarists in his wake, some of whom went on to become guitar heroes themselves.

Today, we've gathered some of the big names who count Rhoads as a favorite – Dave Mustaine, Tom Morello, Kirk Hammett, and Nita Strauss among them – to pay tribute to the guitar legend, who was tragically killed in a plane crash in Leesburg, Florida, on March 19, 1982, at the age of 25.
