15 young guns making the Gibson Les Paul cool again
Yes, yes, we know. For some of you, the Gibson Les Paul has always been Number 1 – the only six-string for those who want to shake walls with tough, rebellious riffage. The ultimate rock guitar.

We hear you! However, the Les Paul has undeniably had a bit of a roller coaster ride when it comes to broader popularity.

The '70s were its glory years, when blues-influenced guitar gods topped charts and packed stadiums around the world – influencing millions to pick up the guitar in their wake – with the Les Paul as their primary weapon of choice.

Then the '80s came, drowning the Les Paul in a sea of hot-rodded, bright-colored SuperStrats. Then, when all seemed lost for the Les Paul in that decade, Slash came along, just for grunge and alt-rock to (mostly) kick the Les Paul to the curb again a few years later.

Today, we've assembled a list of 15 phenomenal young players who are giving the instrument a new lease on life, showing in the process that – though its trendiness will likely continue to come and go – the Les Paul's status as a pillar of rock music will never fully fade.
