Editor's Note
"When you get so used to something, you sometimes take things for granted"
So says John Frusciante, who – after a decade apart from the Red Hot Chili Peppers – returned to the band in late 2019.

The band's new album, Unlimited Love, is their first with Frusciante since 2006, and confidently runs the stylistic gamut from snappy funk to '70s arena-rock, hardcore punk, and prog-rock.

We were recently given 60 minutes to talk to Frusciante about the new album, but our chat ended up lasting nearly two hours.

Below, you can read the interview, which finds the guitar great discussing some of his favorite subjects – the art of making music, his studio secrets, and the Chili Peppers' return to the live stage. He also candidly discusses why he left the band over a decade ago, and what ultimately brought him back to his musical brothers.
